You're absolutely right—no question about it—but it has occasionally gone through my mind: 'It would be so useful to hear about someone else's experiences with this guy, just to stress-test it a little bit.' The reality is that, before we all started dating basically any random stranger, communities self-policed in this way, and we have lost that (probably for the better, admittedly).
