Surely it's time for the tortured genius to make a comeback. I'm thinking in the Beethoven style. He was notoriously grumpy, especially towards the end of his life, and a big drinker and all the rest of it, but his line was: "If you saw the world as I do and toiled away in the circumstances I do, you too would be like this!"
