Speaking as a former lawyer, I totally get where you're coming from in this article. I felt the same pressure. But there is a balance to be struck and when you start to feel you are editing yourself out of your own life, you know you've gone too far in the direction of "better safe than sorry". And it's counterproductive in the long term because people can sense that's what you're doing. Which is a major problem in law because it's a professional services business and cultivating authentic client relationships is at the core of the business model.
