Really interesting article. One useful aspect of marriage is that it encourages parties to keep on going when otherwise they might not and then later regret it. Human nature being what it is, sometimes we do benefit from these slightly "nannying" societal infrastructures. Can't believe I'm saying that as I'm usually against the "nannying" state, but there you go!
