It's an interesting one, but the industry is in a state of flux. The traditional publishing press probably hasn't done quite enough to catch-up with the writers who also want to be entrepreneurs and who make phenomenal sums self-publishing and retaining complete control. But the big sell of the traditional publishing houses is that they only publish excellence (in all its shapes and forms) so quality is guaranteed.
