Great piece. I would probably go further and say that twentieth century's philosophy abject failure in responding in a decipherable way to the horrors of WWII almost killed off philosophy entirely, at least in terms of a respected field of study. There's been far too much stuff written on the mathematics of philosophy, and the philosophy of language etc. etc. and barely anything on moral ethics. Back to basics!
